GOHSEP SITUATION REPORT
5 February 2014

STATE EOC ACTIVATION LEVEL: Level 4 (Normal Operations)
SITUATION: GOHSEP is currently monitoring an upper level disturbance that is introducing the potential for winter weather in regions of the state tomorrow. While the forecast currently calls for minor impacts and little to no accumulations, the potential exists, therefore GOHSEP will be activating the Crisis Action Team (CAT) beginning at 0700 hours 6 February and will continue to monitor this fluid situation throughout its entirety.
The breakdown of impacts are below:
NWS Lake Charles: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Vernon, Rapides, and Avoyelles Parish effective Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 9:00am until 12:00pm.

For Central LA: There is a slight chance of freezing rain/sleet (about 30%) in the morning, dropping to 20% light rain by the afternoon. Little to no accumulation is expected, Some elevated surfaces may see small amounts of ice.

For Southwest LA: There is no forecasted winter precipitation in this area. There is a chance of light rain (about 30-40%) in the morning, dropping to 20% light rain in the afternoon.

For South Central LA: There is no forecasted winter precipitation in this area. There is a chance of light rain (about 40-50%) in the morning, dropping to 20-50% in the afternoon.

NWS Jackson:

For areas south of the I-20 in Northeastern LA: There is a slight chance of snow Thursday morning (about 30%), with light accumulation, maybe a few slick areas on the road.

For extreme Northeastern LA: There is a slight chance of flurries or light dusting of snow.

Duration: Morning until Late Afternoon. There are no plans for issuing a Winter Weather Advisory at this time.
NWS Shreveport:

For areas around Sabine, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant, LaSalle, and Caldwell: There is a slight chance of snow (about 30%).

For areas north of the above mentioned area: There is a slight chance of snow (about 20%).

Little to no accumulation is expected. There are no plans for issuing a Winter Weather Advisory at this time.

NWS Slidell:

For areas around the northern bordering state line, to include Point Coupee through Washington Parish: There is a slight chance of snow/light rain mix (about 20%). No accumulation is expected.

For areas south of the above mentioned area: There is no forecasted winter precipitation in this area.

There are no plans for issuing a Winter Weather Advisory at this time.
