GOHSEP SITUATION REPORT

12 February 2014

As of 1600 Hours

STATE EOC ACTIVATION LEVEL: Crisis Action Team

WebEOC Incident Name: 009-14 Winter Weather - Statewide – 10-11, February 2014

SITUATION: GOHSEP is currently monitoring the icing events that have occurred as a result of an upper level disturbance moving through the state yesterday. A cold front stalled over the region, creating winter precipitation in the central and northern parishes, and widespread rainfall/thunderstorms in the south. While the moisture has moved through the state, temperatures have struggled to rise above freezing, which will bring issues later tonight as refreezing will occur to melted surfaces. However, temperatures should rebound back into the 50’s tomorrow.

GOHSEP will continue to monitor this fluid situation throughout its entirety.

The breakdown of impacts are below:

Northern & Central Louisiana:

-        Temperatures tonight should fall below freezing tonight (21-29 degrees) and any melted ice is expected to refreeze. However, temperatures should rise above freezing around 9:00am in northwestern and central LA, and by 11:00am in northeastern LA.

POWER OUTAGES (as of 2/12/14 4:00pm):
