Situational Awareness Report

4 May 2017

As of 9:00 AM

State EOC Activation Level: CAT (Crisis Action Team)

WebEOC Incident Name: 17-015 Severe Wx and Flooding — Statewide — May03

Situation:  Another round of severe weather moved through the area yesterday and overnight. Heavy rainfall, damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes were all possible. Any areas that were affected by this past weekend’s severe weather were at risk again. Any damages need to be documented separately from the Severe Weather-Statewide-Apr2930 Incident.

North Louisiana: A Lake Winds Advisory is in effect until 7 PM this evening. Northwesterly winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 25 mph possible.

Southwest/ Central Louisiana: Run off issues from recent heavy rainfall could allow for standing or fast moving water across some roadways. Breezy northwest winds from 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts will also occur today. Many rivers, bayous and creeks will be in the flood from the run-off from the recent extensive rainfall. All interests should keep updated with the latest river forecasts, statements and warnings.

Southeast Louisiana: Small craft advisories are in effect for the tidal lakes, sounds and coastal waters through Friday evening.
