STATE EOC ACTIVATION LEVEL: Level 4 (Normal operations)

 

1. TROPICAL WEATHER UPDATE:


As of 0800 hours 16 Nov 2011, the NWS/NHC is reporting no Tropical Cyclone formation expected during the next 48 hours.

2. STATE WIDE EVENTS:   

STATEWIDE PARISH BURN BANS / DROUGHT 2011:

WebEOC Incident 010-11 Statewide Parish Burn Ban

 

State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain have lifted the statewide burn ban as of 11 November 2011.

 

While the State burn ban has been lifted, the following parishes still have declarations of a state of emergency due to the extreme drought situation.

Bossier (expires 17 November 2011)

Caddo (expires 17 November 2011)

Jefferson Davis (expires 14 December 2011)

3. LOUISIANA WEATHER:

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today will be sunny with a high near 83.  Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 49.  Thursday will be sunny during the day and clear through the night.  Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night.  Sunday will be partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers during the day and 20 percent chance of showers into the night. 

Temperatures: Today: 83/49, Thursday: 67/39, Friday: 69/54, Saturday: 75/64, Sunday: 78/65.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather is projected.

 

 

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today will be partly sunny with a high near 83. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 52.  Thursday will be sunny during the day and clear at night.  Friday will be sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night.  Saturday will be partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers during the day and night.  Sunday will be partly sunny with a slight chance of showers during the day and chance of showers during the night. 

Temperatures: Today: 83/52, Thursday: 65/38, Friday: 70/54, Saturday: 77/63, Sunday: 80/63.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:   A small craft advisory will likely be needed for the coastal waters Thursday morning as northwest winds increase to around 20 knots with frequent higher gusts

 

CENTRAL LOUISIANA:  Today will be partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers before 3pm.  Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 42.  Thursday will be sunny during the day and clear at night.  Friday will be sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night.  Saturday will be mostly sunny during the day and mostly cloudy overnight.  Sunday will be partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers during the day and 20 percent chance of showers into the night.

Temperatures: Today: 77/42, Thursday: 64/32, Friday: 68/47, Saturday: 74/61, Sunday: 79/63.

 

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No hazardous weather is projected.

 

NORTHERN LOUISIANA:   Today will be mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers before noon.  Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 37.  Thursday will be sunny during the day and clear at night.  Friday will be mostly sunny during the day and mostly cloudy at night.  Saturday will be partly sunny during the day with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight.  Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and night.

Temperatures: Today: 64/37, Thursday: 65/36, Friday: 66/50, Saturday: 75/63, Sunday: 80/64.

 

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Some scattered shower activity may be observed this morning ahead of a cold front that will pass through the area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms activity will return to the area on Sunday.
