041-12 Tropical Storm
Ernesto 3 August 2012

SITUATION:

As of 1000 hours 3 August 2012,
NWS/NHC is reporting on the following systems in the Atlantic-Caribbean-Gulf of
Mexico
basin:

-      Tropical Storm
ERNESTO

-      a tropical wave just off the
Atlantic coast of Florida (presently disorganized
and strong upper level wind shear is expected to prevent any significant
development of this system as it moves northwest at 5-10 mph;regardless of development, this system will
affect Florida and is not expected to impact
Louisiana).

-      a tropical wave just off the coast
of Africa (environmental conditions are conducive for some gradual development
of the wave off the coast of Africa over the next
48 hours as it moves west-northwest at 10-15 mph; while it is too
early to project any realistic track or intensity for this system, it willcontinue to be monitored).

The one systemof immediate concern is TROPICAL STORM
ERNESTO.

Per NWS Slidell, there is high
certainty in the track shown through Tuesday. After that, the future track will
depend on how strong Ernesto becomes as it travels through the Caribbean and
whether it will be influenced by a high pressure ridge that is expected to
develop to the northwest of Louisiana which could steer the storm more to the
north.

The link below shows the latest
track projection for Ernesto.
