GOHSEP SPECIAL EVENTS SITREP

AS OF 1000 HOURS 5 August 2012

ACTIVATION LEVEL: CAT (CRISIS ACTION TEAM )  

041-12 Tropical Storm Ernesto 3 August 2012

SITUATION:

 

As of 1000 hours 5 August 2012, NWS/NHC is tracking 2 systems in the Atlantic-Caribbean-Gulf of Mexico basin. These are:

 

Tropical Storm Ernesto

Tropical Storm Florence

 

At this time, neither of these systems are projected to affect Louisiana.

 

Invest 91 dissipated last night after moving inland over Florida.

The Crisis Action Team was activated at 0730 hours 3 August and will remain activated until further notice. The Crisis Action Team along with key GOHSEP leaders will monitor the situation and be prepared to respond as needed. There are no planned State EOC activations or conference calls for the  remainder of the weekend.

 

Tropical Storm Ernesto:

Ernesto has shifted even further south and is poorly organized as it moves rapidly westward. The latest data now shows it crossing over the Yucatan even further south than and before, then entering the Bay of Campeche/southern Gulf of Mexico with landfall now looking like the southern Texas or Mexico coastline by next weekend.

Tropical Storm Florence:

Florence is still projected to weaken into a depression by the end of next week and remain in the Atlantic.

ACTIONS BY PARISHES:

Monitoring the situation

 

Parishes that may be affected are reminded to provide reports as needed in WebEOC using the Parish SITREP to SEOC board.

 

 

ACTIONS BY STATE AND OTHER AGENCIES:

 

All state agencies are monitoring and are asked to provide reports as needed in WebEOC using the Agency SITREP to SEOC board. 
 

GOHSEP:

 

GOHSEP Operations created WebEOC incident 041-12 Tropical Storm Ernesto 3 August 2012 in support of this event.

 

The GOHSEP Crisis Action Team was activated at 0730 hours 3 August 2012 and will remain activated until further notice.

 

GOHSEP is participating in conference calls with FEMA Region 6. 

 

DCFS:

Coordinating with ARC, WFC and GOHSEP on mass care plans

 

Will begin conducting daily mass care calls beginning on 6 August 2012

 

Completed the following preparatory actions:

- Hygiene vendor market survey

- Logistics inventory

- Finalize resource transportation plan

- Complete communications checks

- Confirmed shelter capacity

 

WFC:

Coordinating with DCFS, WFC and GOHSEP on mass care plans

 

All vendors have been notified and are ready if needed

 

ARC:

Coordinating with all their state chapters

 

BEOC:

Monitoring and is on standby

 

OCPR:

Coordinated with levee districts and flood fight authorities to update flood fight resources

 

Coordinating with the local authorities to identify and locate protection resource shortfalls that may need attention

 

DHH:

Monitoring the situation

LDAF:

The LDAF Incident Management Team has been advised and placed on alert for possible activation.

Emergency contractors have been notified and NGO advised.

GOHSEP will continue to monitor and report as needed on all tropical systems.
