GOHSEP SPECIAL EVENTS REPORT

SITUATION

As of 2300 hours 29 August 2012, NWS/NHC is reporting on three systems in the Atlantic-Caribbean-Gulf of Mexico basin. These systems are:


Tropical Storm ISAAC

Tropical Storm KIRK, projected to remain out in the Atlantic

Invest 98, projected to remain in the Atlantic

Tropical Storm Isaac is slowly moving across Louisiana and is projected to exit the State Thursday night.

Isaac is impacting the State with prolonged, heavy rainfall, severe flooding and high damaging winds. Search and rescue operations have been ongoing throughout the day along with evacuation and sheltering activities.


As of 2130 hours 29 August 2012, the Louisiana Public Service Commissioner reported 850,598 customers were without power.

A State emergency declaration was issued 26 August 2012. The declaration can be obtained at the link below:

63 parishes have declared a state of emergency due to the current and projected affects of Isaac.


The State EOC was activated at Level 2 on Monday 26 August 2012 at 0600 hours and will remain activated until further notice.


All State agencies along with USCG, USACE, NWS, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and FEMA are actively involved in assisting the impacted areas of our State.


The information on the attached status report provides recap, by parish, of the impact caused by Isaac and actions being taken by the parishes.
