BATON ROUGE, La – Municipalities and other government entities in Caldwell, Catahoula, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Union, Webster, and Winn parishes may be eligible for FEMA Public Assistance after Louisiana’s Severe Winter Storms from January 23to January 27, 2026.
Designated parishes previously approved include Bienville, De Soto, East Carroll, Franklin, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, and West Carroll. To date, thirteen parishes have been approved for all categories of PA work, and Caldwell, Jackson, Tensas, and Winn parishes are approved for reimbursement for debris removal and emergency protective measures.
FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Program provides funding to help communities pay for emergency work to save lives and protect property, debris removal, and repairs to roads, bridges, water control facilities, public buildings, public utilities, parks, and recreational facilities.
PA is FEMA’s largest grant program and can reimburse eligible applicants on a cost-sharing basis to help clean up communities affected by disaster. FEMA is reimbursing Louisiana applicants 75% of the eligible costs for cleanup and repair efforts after Hurricane Francine.
Although funds are awarded to government entities and certain private nonprofits, the PA program is intended to benefit everyone — neighborhoods, cities, parishes, and states.
