Back to School Tips

As the back-to-school season approaches, businesses should be prepared for the influx of teachers, parents, and students on the road again. Let’s all be prepared so that we keep everyone safe. Here are a few tips to think about:
1. Leave a few minutes early. The roads will be a little more crowded than they have been in recent weeks with back-to-school traffic. There is likely to be several newly minted drivers on the roads, so be patient and courteous as we all navigate to our destinations. Take particular caution in areas near schools and school crossings.
2. Things may be crowded. Expect higher foot traffic in stores and public places. Use barriers, signs, and staff to manage crowds and maintain order. Ensure emergency exits are clearly marked and accessible.
3. Promote Health and Hygiene. The extra traffic is likely to include some unwanted visitors. Promote
some renewed hygiene measures, such as extra disinfecting wipes on common surfaces. Encourage employees who are not feeling 100% to stay home or work from home if that is an option.
4. Customer Service. The additional customers may result in extra wait times for those in the service industries. Encourage your employees who interact with the public to put on a little extra helping of patience and customer service skills. This will go a long way to enhance your customer’s experience.
5. Cybersecurity. More and more schools are utilizing the Internet to enhance the learning experience. People with bad intentions never take a day off, so remind your employees especially those with students to keep their anti-virus up-to-date. Additionally, make sure that students protect themselves from online predators. These are just some quick thoughts to keep everyone safe as we head into the “Back to School” season.
