GOHSEP continues its mission to improve agency outcomes and community resiliency. To prepare your community to withstand disasters and avoid catastrophe, GOHSEP encourages your participation in the following GOHSEP Academy offerings.
May 13 – 14: Procuring for Disaster in Louisiana Deadline for Lodging/Meals: May 1, 2025
This course offers a guide to complying with both federal procurement regulations and Louisiana procurement laws when preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a disaster or emergency. By the end of the course, participants will have a well-rounded skill set in procurement processes and facilitating continuous improvement to build community efficiency and resiliency.
May 28 – 29: LCSS Grants & Site Assessments Deadline for Lodging/Meals: May 20, 2025
This course offers a guide to school physical security assessments, which can help parish emergency managers and school officials apply for funding opportunities for security enhancements and prevent acts of violence. By the end of the course, participants will be competent in the grant application process, the GMPro Management system, and creating safer and secure learning environments.
June 10 – 11: Contingency Planning for Sporting Events. Deadline for Lodging/Meals: June 3, 2025
This course provides a foundational understanding of ensuring a safe environment for players, staff, and attendees of large-gathering competitive events. By the end of the course, participants will have received a comprehensive all-hazard approach to planning an integrated response to address various security concerns for sporting events and large spectator gatherings, including K-12 events.
June 24 – 25: Understanding Critical Infrastructure Deadline for Lodging/Meals: June 17, 2025
This course provides awareness of GOHSEP’s Critical Infrastructure priorities. Participants will discuss Residual Risk scores and learn the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NCIPP) nomination process. By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the impact that local/state Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) Events can have and the potential funding streams they generate.
July 8 – 9: Public Assistance – From Assessment to Closeout Deadline for Lodging/Meals: July 2, 2025
This course offers a practicum in the FEMA Public Assistance Process from obtaining a declaration through the final closeout of the grant. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of the PA process from beginning to end, enabling them to more efficiently help their communities recover post-disaster.
