Hurricane Preparedness Training for Individuals with Disabilities and other Functional Needs (Orleans/Jefferson)

NOHSEP/NOLA Ready, in partnership with Jefferson Parish, will be hosting a hurricane preparedness training for individuals with disabilities and other functional needs.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, October 4th, 2025
  • Time: 9AM – 2PM
  • Location: Ree Alario Center (6900 Saints Drive, Metairie, LA 70003)
  • This day-long training will provide residents from Orleans and Jefferson parishes with guidance and resources to enhance their hurricane readiness.

Training topics will include:

  • Emergency alerts and communication systems
  • Evacuation assistance and transportation resources
  • Accessible resource center options and services
  • Planning for medical, mobility, and support needs

Resource Fair:

  • The workshop will conclude with a resource fair where organizations that serve people with access and functional needs can set up a table to share information about their programs and services and connect with other groups in the community. Organizations interested in hosting a table should sign up by September 30th,  2025
  • Resource Fair Tabling Sign-up

Registration Details:

  • This training is free and includes lunch. While designed for individuals with disabilities and other functional needs, it is open to all residents in Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
  • We ask that participants please register by September 30, 2025
