Francine clean-up continues … and a quick look at some preliminary wind and rain numbers.
Weather over the weekend should accommodate recovery and clean-up efforts across southeast and east-central Louisiana.
Mornings will be mild and dry with afternoon temperatures rising into the upper 80°s to low 90°s across the Francine-impacted parishes. Rain chances are set at just 10% for Saturday afternoon and a modest 20% for Sunday afternoon.
Heat and humidity will be the only concerns, especially for work crews and those doing outdoor clean-up efforts … in addition to those still without power and A/C. Afternoon heat index readings will reach the 100°s for most communities, so make sure to take care with plenty of breaks from the sunshine and adequate hydration.
Elevated waters in Pontchartrain and Maurepas continue to fall … and that should allow the lower ends of the Florida Parishes rivers to continue a slow fall.
Nothing to worry about in the Gulf for the next several days, at least. None of the features currently being monitored by the NHC will be Gulf “visitors.”
