New Training Class Added: Public Information Officers in Action

Location: UL Lafayette- Abdalla Hall Auditorium, 635 Cajun Dome Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70506

June 24-25, 2025

This is a 2-day course. This class is split into different times:

Day one is 12 pm to 4 pm
Day two is 8 am to 12 pm

This course offers a comprehensive understanding of the roles and responsibilities of public information officers, as well as best practices for delivering clear, concise, and trustworthy emergency messaging. Participants will receive foundational and practical knowledge in the following subjects and topics:

· Statements for Inquiries

· Press briefings and interviews

· Social Media Strategies

· Coordinating Communications

By the end of the course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of communicating emergency messaging through multiple means and platforms, and will be able to reach the intended audience.

Target Audience: Agriculture, Education, Emergency Management, Emergency Management Director, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), First Responders, Government Administrative, Law Enforcement, Transportation, and Volunteer Organizations

**If lodging/meal is requested, GOHSEP will coordinate with LEPA & the Double Tree Hotel and send out a confirmation email to participants. DEADLINE for requesting lodging/meals: June 17, 2025. Confirmation emails will be sent to participants by June 19th or before. Check-in will be after 3:00 pm on June 24th (following class), pending your request.
