President Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Louisiana

Baton Rouge, LA-  Governor Jeff Landry announced the President has approved his request for a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Louisiana following Hurricane Francine This covers Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes. More parishes may be added as damage is assessed.
“This federal assistance is vital to help Louisiana rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. I appreciate the hard work our federal delegation, local officials, and our administration put in to get this over the finish line, ” said Governor Jeff Landry.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov (https://www.disasterassistance.gov/), by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the  FEMA App (https://www.ready.gov/fema-app).

INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE (Assistance to individuals and households):

Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes.

 

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE (Assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities):

Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes for debris removal and emergency protective measures (Categories A and B), including direct federal assistance.

 

HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM (Assistance for actions taken to prevent or reduce long-term risk to life and property from natural hazards):

All areas in the State of Louisiana are eligible to apply for assistance under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

 

OTHER: Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments
