Weather Advisory – January 5

Good afternoon,

As we begin the second week of January, please remain weather-aware. The threat of severe weather increases this afternoon with the approaching cold front, followed by extended periods of significant cold temperatures. The threats posed by the severe cold temperatures are primarily to the state’s northern portions but extend into the coastal parishes well.

Businesses should be aware that, with the significant wind threat over the next 24 hours, they may experience power loss. Freezing conditions, starting tonight through Wednesday, will exacerbate the situation. Listen to local officials about any weather-related road or business closures.

The attached slides from the state climatologist visually represent the threats of wind and temperature. Don’t hesitate to contact info@labeoc.org if you have any questions or concerns.
