The LABEOC is monitoring the increased threat of saltwater intrusion in the lower Mississippi River. GOHSEP is now operating at a Level-3 Activation with select agencies.

LSU AgCenter Update – Information about Saltwater Impact to Plants and Livestock
According to the LSU Ag Center, the saltwater is expected to reach the following areas by these dates.
• Belle Chasse – October 19
• St. Bernard – October 19
• Algiers – October 22
• Gretna- October 24
• West Jefferson – October 25
•Carrollton – October 28
• East Jefferson – October 29

Tiger Island Wildfire
The Emergency Operations Center in Louisiana has been activated due to the severe heat and wildfires in Beauregard Parish. Currently, a burn ban is in effect throughout Louisiana.

Department of Family and Child Services – Food Assistance
Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits may request Replacement SNAP benefits if they have lost food because of fires or a power outage of 24 hours or more. For more information, visit dcfs.la/replace. Affected residents who are not SNAP recipients can dial 211 to get information about resources and assistance in their area.
SNAP Replacement Benefits are NOT automatic.
You must apply to have funds replaced.
