UPDATE: DOTD Lane Closures for Both Bridges over the Intracoastal Canal in Larose

Please note the date change from tomorrow, November 1, to Monday, November 6, 2023, for both of these lane closures.

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the southbound lane of the West Larose Vertical Lift Span Bridge (aka the Intracoastal Bridge on LA 1 in Larose) will be closed on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM in order for DOTD personnel to perform bridge inspection operations. Flagging operations will be utilized during the closure to facilitate traffic in both directions.

In addition, the northbound lane of the Louisiana Highway 308 overpass crossing the Intracoastal Canal in Larose will be closed on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM for bridge inspection. Flagging operations will be utilized during the closure to facilitate traffic in both directions.

Please be aware that these inspection closures may overlap for a brief period midday, so expect heavy traffic delays at peak rush hour times.

NOTICE: Intermittent Road Closures on Hwy. 308 in Cut Off on Friday, Monday

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced two upcoming road closures that may affect local traffic.

On Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., LA 308 will be closed intermittently for both northbound and southbound traffic between the Cut Off Lift Bridge (aka Le Pont D’Or Bridge near McDonald’s) near East 28th Street and the Cote Blanche Pontoon Bridge near East 52nd Street in Cut Off, LA.

On Monday, October 30, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., LA 308 will be closed intermittently for both northbound and southbound traffic between the Cote Blanche Pontoon Bridge near East 52nd Street to East 90th Street in Cut Off, LA.

These intermittent full closures on LA 308 are needed in order to allow LA DOTD’s tree-cutting contractor to cut down and remove dangerously overhanging trees at several locations within the closure limits on LA 308.

During the intermittent closures, no through traffic will be allowed through the work zone.

LA 1 Expressway Intermittent Lane Closures Scheduled Nightly 10/16-10/23

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that there will be intermittent southbound nightly lane closure(s) at the toll gantry from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. from October 16-23, 2023. These brief closures are necessary to allow for work to be performed on the gantry electronic tolling system.

During these intermittent closures, vehicular traffic will be flagged through the northbound lane at the toll plaza.

 Also, the southbound lane at the Leeville Bridge Toll Plaza on LA 1 will be closed intermittently for 10 to 20 minutes at a time from 7:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on the nights of October 18, 2023, to October 22, 2023, to allow the contractor to perform testing operations and adjustments to the overhead gantry electronic tolling equipment.

Permit loads traveling northbound or southbound will not be affected by this partial closure.

LA 1 Expressway Nightly Lane Closures Scheduled 9/25-29

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that there will be southbound nightly lane closure(s) at the toll gantry from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. from September 25- 29, 2023. These nightly southbound lane closures are necessary in order for contractors to replace cameras and other tolling equipment on the toll gantry.

All traffic will be flagged through the northbound lane during the nightly southbound lane closure(s). Permit loads will not be affected by these nightly closures.

LA 1 Expressway Road Closure Scheduled for Monday, May 22

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that there will be an overnight road closure next Monday associated with work on the LA 1 Toll Bridge in Leeville.

This is a complete closure for four (4) hours at the LA 1 Leeville Bridge Toll Plaza for both northbound and southbound traffic. The total road closure is necessary to allow crews to complete overhead gantry construction work.

CLOSURE:

  • Monday, May 22, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

Emergency vehicles WILL BE ALLOWED through the work area during the closure. Otherwise, there is NO alternate route available around the closure. Please plan accordingly.

Golden Meadow Bridge, Open to Marine Traffic, Closed to Vehicular Traffic

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the Golden Meadow Lift Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice due to structural issues.

There is no time frame for vehicular traffic to resume on the Golden Meadow Bridge. Expect an extended closure period.

South Lafourche Bridge Open to Marine Traffic, Closed Indefinitely to Vehicular Traffic

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the Galliano (Tarpon) Lift Bridge, known locally as the South Lafourche Bridge, will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice due to mechanical issues.

Emergency maintenance repairs are underway, but there is no time frame for vehicular traffic to resume on the South Lafourche Bridge. Expect an extended closure period.

Marine traffic has been restored and should remain open to vessels while bridge repair efforts are underway.

Alternate routes to cross Bayou Lafourche during this bridge closure are as follows:

LA 1 Expressway Tolling to Resume September 6 with Cashless System

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that tolling operations on the LA 1 Expressway will resume on September 6, 2022, at noon, following completed repairs made from damage caused by Hurricane Ida in August 2021. When tolling resumes, the entire system will be cashless. The switch to an all-electronic tolling system will keep customers moving and reduce traffic delays on LA 1.

Customers are encouraged to sign up for a GeauxPass account online at GeauxPass.com or in person at the Customer Service Center in Golden Meadow. For customers without a GeauxPass account, a new Bill by Mail system will be used.

Bill by Mail allows customers without a GeauxPass account to pass through the toll and receive a notice by mail to the address where the vehicle is registered. Drivers may incur additional fees if the notice is not paid within 30 days.

LA 1 Expressway Toll Lane Closures Scheduled

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that work to restore the LA 1 tolling system at the elevated LA 1 Expressway entrance ramp in Leeville begins this week. This work may cause delays to those with interests in Port Fourchon, so please plan accordingly.

LANE CLOSURES:

GeauxPass Lane 1 (On the right leading into the toll gantry)

Wednesday, August 10 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
GeauxPass Lane 2 (On the left)

Wednesday, August 10 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 11 from noon until 10:00 p.m.
Friday, August 12 from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

The right lane, which was previously used for cash and credit options at the toll booth, will be open for thru traffic.

Beginning in late summer/early fall, tolling operations at LA 1 in Leeville will resume with a new cashless system, following repairs made from damage caused by Hurricane Ida in August 2021. To learn more about the changes, click here.

WIDTH RESTRICTIONS:

The maximum width on Lane 1 is 8’-7”. All motorists with loads exceeding 8’-7” in width will need a permit and contraflow escort. Louisiana State Police Transit Alert: I-10 east closed at Williams Blvd. (New Orleans)

I-10 east is closed at Williams Boulevard due to a chemical spill. Traffic is being diverted to I-310 south. At this time, it is unknown how long the closure will last. Please expect delays and avoid unnecessary travel to the area
