FLOTATION CANAL DREDGING NOTICE

Coastal Dredging will begin maintenance dredging in the Flotation Canal on September 2, 2023.

The dredge will be working 24/7 in Flotation Canal, near the mooring dolphins.  Dredging will start on the west end of the Flotation Canal near Bayou Lafourche and move east toward Pointe Fourchon.  The dredge will then move to the front commercial marina, where the project will end.

Please use caution when traveling in this area, keep a safe distance, and monitor VHF channel 13. This project should be complete by the end of February 2024.

The Greater Lafourche Port Commission wishes to thank you in advance for your cooperation in getting this dredging project completed in a safe and timely manner.

Port Fourchon – Bollinger Shipyard Dredge Operations

Mariners are advised that on Thursday, November 17th from 0900 to 1100, Bollinger will be deploying dredge pipe across Bayou Lafourche at their Bayou Lafourche location in Port Fourchon.   Mariners should expect delays in the area as navigation will be restricted.  Harbor Police will be on the scene monitoring operations.  All mariners are urged to conduct appropriate voyage planning.

Golden Meadow Bridge, Open to Marine Traffic, Closed to Vehicular Traffic

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the Golden Meadow Lift Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice due to structural issues.

There is no time frame for vehicular traffic to resume on the Golden Meadow Bridge. Expect an extended closure period.

Alternate routes to cross Bayou Lafourche during this bridge closure are as follows:

– To the North: Cote Blanche Pontoon Bridge in Cut Off

– To the North: Le Pont D’Or Lift Bridge in Cut Off

– To the North: *New Larose Vertical Lift Bridge in Larose

– To the South: Galliano Pontoon Bridge in Galliano

Marine Traffic Advisory: Belle Passe Dredge Operations

RE: BELLE PASS DREDGE OPERATIONS
USCG has issued the following notice:
Mariners are advised that on Friday, October 28th from 0800 to 1000, the Dredge Mike Hooks will be recovering a 27-inch diameter dredge pipe in Belle Pass near Port Fourchon in approximate position 29 6’ 24.62” N     090 12’ 50.87” W.   Vessel traffic will be restricted at this time.  Mariners should avoid the area if possible.  Dredge vessel Mike Hooks will be standing by on VHF channel 87 for coordination of passing arrangements.  All mariners are urged to conduct appropriate voyage planning.
Please be mindful of the dredge operations in Belle Pass during this time frame and plan accordingly.
